Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will have to increase its electricity tariff once again by the end of this year, the engineers said.
They pointed out that the electricity tariff has been increased twice this year and to make up for the loss of more than Rs. 5000 crores by the end of this year, the electricity tariff should be increased again in January.
Engineers also point out that the Electricity Board is incurring such losses due to continuous supply of electricity by obtaining electricity from private power plants and thermal power plants.
However, even if the electricity tariff is not increased in the next few months of this year, the electricity tariff will definitely have to be increased in January, they added.
